The film had a promising start, opening with ₹1.75 crore on its first day. It saw a slight uptick over the weekend, collecting ₹2.25 crore on Saturday, marking a 28.57% increase, and ₹2.75 crore on Sunday, a 22.22% rise. However, the trend took a downturn during the weekdays. On Monday, the collection fell to ₹1.15 crore, reflecting a significant 58.18% drop. Bengaluru followed with a 28% occupancy rate, while major metropolitan areas like Mumbai (15.67%), NCR (16.33%), and Pune (16.67%) reported lower turnout. About The Bengal Files

*The Bengal Files* is the concluding chapter in Agnihotri’s controversial Files trilogy, which includes *The Tashkent Files* and *The Kashmir Files*. This latest installment aims to shed light on the alleged massacres of Hindus in post-Partition West Bengal, a narrative that the filmmakers argue has been largely overlooked in mainstream historical discourse. The film features a notable cast, including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, who have all contributed to the film’s ambitious storytelling.

Since its release, *The Bengal Files* has ignited significant controversy, particularly in West Bengal, where numerous multiplexes opted not to screen the film, citing concerns over security. In a bid to address these issues, co-producer and actress Pallavi Joshi penned an open letter to President Droupadi Murmu, appealing for intervention to safeguard freedom of expression in the arts.
